How Healthy is Your Home?

For a couple of weeks now, spirit has been guiding me to talk a little about the health of where you live. Living in healthy surroundings goes a long way in raising your vibration to not only make it possible to communicate with the spirit world, but also to keeping yourself healthy in mind, body and spirit. Regardless of where you live, country or city, house or apartment, you can gauge the health of your abode by how much life surrounds it.
What do I mean by that, you ask? Do plants flourish in your home, or do they just shrivel up and fade away? What about outside of your home? Do birds and animals gather on your lawn, patio, or trees? Do you have a lot of greenery outside in your lawn? See, life is attracted to environments with a high vibration and the higher the vibration, the healthier your environment is.
How do you get to that point? Do you just grab a hank of sage and sage the heck out of your home and quit there? No! It's a start...and should be part of your regular house cleaning regime (notice I call it regime...because I sure wouldn't impose house cleaning on myself!). I digress...
The health of your environment is so much more. Do you have plants which you lovingly tend to either inside or outside? The mere tending of plants and encouraging life is a great simple way to improve your environment. Whether it's a lone African violet in the windowsill or a thriving jungle of greenery, plants raise the vibration of an environment merely by being.
Look outside. Do birds sing on your lawn, balcony or porch? No? Well, it's time to encourage them to come for a visit and fill your air with the sound of their music. So, what if you live in the city or in an apartment? Hang a bird feeder or birdhouse outside your window. We have several, but my favorite is an all-natural gourd that a friend bought me at a farmer's market. That little birdhouse has become home to a family of house finches every summer since. We have a see-through plastic feeder on our dining room window that has attracted wrens, cardinals, blue jays and even doves. The doves like to sit inside the feeder until they are finished to make sure no other birds can fit in there! We have suet feeders on our front and back porch that we keep full year around. And there's nothing better than the sound of a finch singing first thing in the morning!
If you have a lawn, do the rabbits come for visits? How about deer, fox, possums or raccoons? Yes, I know the latter three can be a nuisance if you have chickens like we do, but the presence of living beings reminds me that they are comfortable making my lawn their home. Which tells me that my environment is healthy. And if you walk where the animals walk, you can collect that peace and well-being yourself.
One of the things I have committed to in my lawn to keep it healthy is that I don't tend to use chemical herbicides except when absolutely necessary. Which means I do use it to kill poison ivy because my daughter is extremely allergic to the stuff. I also use it in the dog run to keep the weeds down and thus, keeps the fleas and ticks off my four-legged housemates. For fertilizer, I am using the water out of the duck pool or the manure out of the goat pen. As insecticide, I use diatomaceous earth around the outside of my house to keep the ants from invading...not that they don't serve a purpose outside, but I don't want them inside.
As I've said many times before, I truly believe that everything we need to keep ourselves healthy is right here on our earth. So, a weed is not really a weed, in most cases they serve some sort of healing purpose so why do you want to kill them? Or why would you want to have nothing but pristine green grass in your lawn when you can have the yellow blanket of dandelion or the periwinkle blue of chicory? How about the pink and white clover? I may not have a pristine lawn, but I do have a wild and welcoming place the birds and animals can share with me.
If you are limited on what you can do, here are a few other suggestions:
Hang windchimes on your porch or balcony or even in an open window.
Use your music subscription service and find recordings of the wild.
Put a small fountain on your desk or nightstand or on your balcony or porch.
Use natural fragrances in your home by hanging eucalyptus, lemon grass, rosemary, lavender or mint above your doorways and windows. Almost all of these are available in your supermarket.
Sage or use varieties of smudge sticks after cleaning your house.
Cut fresh lemon, limes, and oranges and set them around your home.
Let the fresh air in often. I like to open my windows when it's raining or storming, I just make sure they aren't the windows facing the storm.
Find a company that makes natural, non-toxic cleaning products.
That's all for today on this topic. I did want you all to know that I will be doing short readings at the Historic Hannah House Paranormal Festival in Indianapolis on 8/9.
