Don't Let the Negative Vibes In

In recent days, the news has been filled with images of people whose intent has been to create havoc and negativity. It's a shame, really. To me, people who do this are either very unhappy themselves, out of balance with the universe, or downright mentally ill. In any case, we have to protect ourselves from the negativity they spew so freely. If not, we will soon be sucked down into the depths of misery right alongside them. Especially those of us who are sensitive to other peoples' emotional state. And the more of us who are sucked in, the more the negativity spreads like poison. We don't want that to happen.

So, you ask, how do we protect ourselves from this? Over the years, I've had some wonderful mentors and teachers who along with my own spirit guides have provided direction in this very topic. Not to mention my own intuitive guidance.

Let's start with that. I know one of the things I need frequently is to ground myself. Take a breath of fresh air and feel the warmth of grass and soil under my bare feet. Maybe go out and lean against the trunk of a tree. Let the energy of the earth rejuvenate my frazzled senses for a little bit. Another thing is doing something I thoroughly enjoy and that is reading a good book. Escaping reality for just a little bit. Here I bet you thought I was going to tell you to go and meditate for a bit. You can if you want and maybe that works for you. It doesn't for me because meditating just makes me think of all the crap loads of nastiness that's going on around me since it's really hard to shut down my mind long enough to meditate unless it's right before bed and only after I've read a couple chapters of a good love story. But hey, that's me. You might be different. So, use your intuition and figure out what makes you feel at ease and lifts the weight off your shoulders. Then go do that as much as possible.

Now, the advice given to me by my first mentor. I can still hear her telling me how every morning as I step out of the shower to get ready for my day to imagine stepping into my cocoon of light and zipping it up tight while filling it full of bright white light. Of course, the bright white light of protection comes from the divine source and has the effect of repelling any of the negative darkness that tries to slip by either repelling or absorbing it before the dark can reach your soul.

From my guides and ancestors who occasionally hang around with their tidbits of wisdom. That wisdom tends to lean in the direction of magick. One of my favorite ways of repelling the negativity is to put protective mirrors facing outward in the windows of my house and sea salt in my doorways. I have also found that wearing hematite absorbs a lot of the negativity. I also have a spell that I like to use where I write the offending issues down on paper, start it on fire with a white candle and release it to the wind at dusk with the intent of letting it all go.

To wrap it all up for now, my best advice is to stand strong in your convictions and don't let the noise of others change that for you. Today's world is strange and confusing and not at all what it looked like years ago. It's become a hodge podge of what everyone has decided is right and what is wrong instead of how things should be. For me, I am going to walk in my truth and my convictions and continue to do everything to keep the negativity out while using every bit of light at my fingertips to drive away the darkness before it overtakes the world.
