Protecting Yourself

Yesterday, I was asked the question about how you can protect yourself from "possession" or "demonic attacks" or even "evil spirits" when working as a medium/clairvoyant. This is a complex thing to talk about, because of my own beliefs.

First of all, as a spiritualist, I do not believe in demonic attacks or demonic possession. Following that, I would say that there are low vibrational beings in the spirit world, but they were low vibrational beings when they were here on earth. Those would be people who end up choosing to be "evil" to others during their time as a human. rather than name them here and give them the pomp and circumstance they so sorely craved while on the human realm, I'll just ask you to think mass murderers and genocidal maniacs. Evil to humans but reduced to a miserable low vibrating soul in the afterlife. Probably in a grey, bland, boring existence instead of in the light of those above.

Protecting yourself is a multi-faceted practice. Remember those low vibrating souls or spirits I mentioned above? Those are the ones you do not want to attract when you are practicing mediumship/clairvoyance. The best thing to repel them, is to make sure your vibration is high enough that they cannot even get near you. Low vibrating souls are repelled by higher vibrating souls...and we are all souls...some of us are just stuck in our human bodies learning our daily lessons. For this reason, I do not ever attempt to communicate with spirit when I am feeling down in the dumps or even angry. Never. Do they sometimes get through anyway? Of course, they do. That's when I turn to my joy guide for help. She's usually pretty good at keeping those irritants out.

Another thing I do not do is use Ouija boards. Commercialized invitations for any wandering soul--good or bad--to come in and chat. And this is a personal choice, not because they are inherently bad or evil, it's because in my experience as a younger person, it wasn't a good experience. Not to mention my mother and her friend had a very alarming experience with one and talked about it with me. Others have used the Ouija board with no problem. It's just not for me. Besides, I have no trouble getting spirit to communicate with me when I want...and sometimes when I don't.

On to the next thing I mentioned. My joy guide. Our joy guides are the gatekeepers of the fence between the two worlds...spirit and human. Communicate with your guide and tell them what you will and will not allow. For example, one of the rules I have set out is that I do not want to get premonitions or visions of things to come such as accidents or other tragedies. If I cannot control the outcome for the better, I'm better off not knowing it's going to happen. My joy guide knows I only want the best and lightest of souls who have legitimate loving messages to come through to me. So far, it seems to have worked very well.

Prayer is another way to protect yourself. No matter who you view as your Creator. You can reach out to the archangels to guard you while you work. You can ask that they bring in the white light of the Creator to surround you with love and peace. Nothing dark is going to want to come inside a bubble so full of loving and high vibrational energy.

Yesterday, the word 'conjure' was brought up. I clarified...I do not conjure spirit. I call upon my guides to bring in spirits who wish to communicate. Sometimes I call upon them to bring in my dad or my mom or other loved ones. The main definitions of the word conjure is to bring something about through magick. Whereas I believe in magick, being a medium/clairvoyant has nothing to do with spells or potions and everything to do with who I am a soul trapped in a human body. Conjure has been used in filmmaking to invoke horror and imaginative evil. Which lowers your vibration and makes you susceptible to lower vibrating souls. My guides will shut off the television or lock up a DVD player faster than you can say ghost if I even try to watch movies like that.

Another thing came up about the term 'evil' in general. Like, in how violent criminals end up here on earth. I am of the opinion that evil people who do evil things to humanity have mental illnesses. Sociopaths, psychopaths, narcissists...they are all inherently evil people and it's because they are so entrenched in their own ego, they don't care what they do or how they treat others. And worse, they can't see past their own ego to admit what they are doing is wrong. In fact, they see what they are doing as being good for humanity.

Because this topic came up in two conversations yesterday, I imagined that it was my guides' way to tell me I needed to make it a topic of my blog post.
