Snow Day

Today was supposed to be a snow day. However, Mother Nature decided to send the worst of the snowstorm south of us. Instead, we started off the weekend with a negative 10 windchill yesterday and finally got up to a balmy 23 this afternoon. Still a good day to stay inside and create things.
After I started a fire in the wood stove, I heated up a bowl of potato soup for lunch and decided to hunker down with craft projects for the upcoming traveling markets my daughter and I set up at. I will also be placing some items here on my website as they come available.
Yesterday and today, I am working on a counted cross stitch while I wait for my supply order to come in for candles and skin care items. Those will likely be next weekend's project. What they say about winter is true, it's a good time to go within and prepare for the first buds of spring to start popping up. And I for one, am looking forward to those spring buds. But until then, I create.
I was trying to think of a good topic to discuss on the blog today, and I'm coming up empty. But spirit says that's okay. We have to empty out sometimes to let in the new. So, I'm going to take it from there and make it my topic for today.
How many of you get to the point where you feel overwhelmed? Being overwhelmed is not good for our spiritual, mental or physical health. That is why we need to let go of things which no longer serve us well. Winter is a good time to reflect on those things and let them go. Take the time to rest, just like the seeds and roots and sprouts take time to sleep before they grow and bloom. It's the way of earth and everything which inhabits it. Now is the best time to just take it easy and be still.
Now, there are some of us who have trouble just being still. I would be one of those. I guess I feel like I have a limited time on this trip to earth and I want to make the most of it. That doesn't mean I don't rest...I just do it in ways where I let my creativity take hold. There's nothing more relaxing and restful to me that doing a craft project or even reading a book. So, that is what I will be doing for the next few weeks. That is the way I rejuvenate my mind, body and soul.
One important message spirit has guided me to pass along to everyone is to be vigilant but not let your vigilance overtake your normal way of living. Things around our world right now are not the best. We see it and hear it. Spirit wants us to unplug from the media for a bit because the media is not our friend. And the news is not the news. Almost everything today that we read and hear today is someone's opinion. There are those in this world who want to invoke fear and drive us to distraction. And to divide us. Because a society which is divided is much easier to control. Listen to your own spirit guides. They will not mislead you. They may not tell you what you want to hear, but they will tell you what you need to know to make the right decisions.
In closing...considering the state of the world today, take a moment to be kind. If someone is rude to you, be kind anyway. You don't know what difficulties they might be going through. And if you can't be kind, just walk away. That doesn't mean to let people walk all over you either. It's about balance.
Blessed be to all...
