The Cold Full Moon

The Cold Full Moon was at its peak this morning at 4:01 am. Here in Indiana, we were only able to see a vague, cloud shrouded moon last evening before the full-blown rain clouds rolled in and brought a steady torrent of heavenly water for most of the night and throughout the day so far today.
This moon is about slowing down and releasing that which no longer serves us. A good time to indulge ourselves in a nice meditative bath. Yesterday, I did just that with a blend of eucalyptus, peppermint and lavender and just took a much-needed moment for myself. Tonight, I plan on putting some frankincense oil in my diffuser before I go to bed., which is good for releasing what is called sleep debt. Or the difference between the sleep you need and the sleep you actually get. Without releasing this sleep debt on occasion, there could be significant impacts on your health and on your mood.
Tonight is a good time to perform a cold moon ritual. The best way to do this is to sit down today and decide what messages you would like to receive from the spirit world. You can do your cold full moon spell on any of the three nights of the full moon. Light a silver candle to call in the power of the moon then light a gold candle to welcome the warmth of the sun. Visualize the power of both filling your soul. Use whatever words you feel are best for asking your ancestors and spirit guides to join you as you meditate. Watch for signs and listen for the messages which come to you. Use your journal to write down everything from your meditation then extinguish the candles and be sure to thank those who visited with you.
The theme of this moon is reflection, release and renewal. So, don't be surprised if those are the types of messages you receive from the spirit world during this period. Remember, as Yule approaches, we will be celebrating the return of the sun and longer days.
Speaking of Yule, we are only 6 days away! I will be doing a special blog posting on the historical components of this particular Pagan celebration.
Have a peaceful and refelctive cold full moon night!
