The Signs They Leave

I thought I would talk about the different ways spirit might communicate with you. Just a head's up for those of you who are already aware of or engaged in spirit communication, this is going to be old news for you...but stick around or check back for future posts and you might pick up something new. I will be giving some personal examples of how spirit has shown signs to me, because that's just how when I teach about a topic I do.

So, spirit is composed of energy and depending upon how much energy they have been able to regain on the spirit side of the world, that will determine how they might communicate. It might be as simple as a cool breeze, or a brief whiff of their fragrance and it might be as obvious as them standing in the hallway before your very eyes.

Symbols is a common way they communicate. For example, maybe you keep seeing cardinals. Cardinals have always been associated with visitation from a passed over loved one. A few years back, I got really sick with some sort of nasty virus and got hospitalized for a couple of days. When I got home, I spent a lot of time on the sofa in my pajamas and noticed a cardinal perched on the side mirror of my Jeep. Every so often, he'd fly over to the window and give it a tap before returning to his spot on the mirror. He stayed there for the duration of my time at home sick. I am certain this was my father's way to tell me he was watching over me and wishing me a speedy recovery.

Sometimes we find small items like a penny turned up with a special date on it or perhaps a white feather appears out of nowhere. I lost my beloved dog about a year ago. Oscar had been a special boy who liked to ride on my shoulders when I'd take him for a drive. I was heartbroken and cried ugly tears for days. Then that Saturday morning, I got up and there was an enormous white feather laying on the floor of my bedroom where he used to lie in the sunshine in the afternoons. A big feather for a big-hearted little dog. The feather is on the shelf with his ashes and photo.

There are spirits who are so filled with energy, they can actually move items from one place to the next. It doesn't mean they are destructive or aggressive, it just means they want you to know they are there and acknowledge them. A few years back, me and another person were talking about whether there was such a thing as ghosts or spirits, and he was a non-believer. Imagine the look on his face when his stationary iced tea glass on the table beside him split completely in half. A couple weeks later, he expressed his disbelief again only to have a picture on a hook above his head come off its hook and smack him in the shoulder. The picture? One word. Believe.

Most people can "feel" when spirit is near. Ever get goosebumps for no reason at all? That's how I know when spirit is trying to communicate with me. Or maybe a high-pitched ringing in your ear which is sometimes what happens to me, especially when I'm near a cemetery or in a funeral home.

Speaking of funeral homes...and I'll go as far as hospitals and nursing homes...one should be cautious about bringing a lonely soul home with them. Be sure that you form a bubble of white light around yourself before entering places where a soul may have departed their earthly body. It's really simple to do. Just close your eyes and use your imagination to put yourself inside a bubble. Fill that bubble with white light. And if you do pick up a lonely soul, just tell them they need to go toward the light. That you didn't ask them to follow you home.
